Netflix’s popular weekly K-drama of the Summer, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, is being renewed for a second season.

The riveting courtroom drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which enthralled viewers in its debut season, will return for another season. The show premiered on June 29, 2022, and quickly rose to popularity on Netflix and became one of the most-watched Korean TV exports of all time.

It is an ENA production by ASTORY. The show focuses on Woo Young Woo, a recent law graduate who is 27 years old and lives with an autism spectrum disorder. She dispels misconceptions about autistic people lacking “social skills” and “emotional intelligence.”

And now that word of a potential season 2 has circulated, fans are clamouring to know when fresh episodes will debut to carry on the tale of this extraordinary young attorney. If you are one of them, you have landed in the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2.

Enthusiastic followers of this summer’s most beloved K-Drama on the internet will be delighted to hear that Extraordinary Attorney Woo is set to return for a second season.

Lee Sang Baek, the CEO of ASTORY had the following to say about season 2;

Thanks to the support of many people, we will produce Season 2 of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo.’ The goal is to air Season 2 in 2024.

Considering the series’ immense popularity, the announcement of a second season shouldn’t come as any surprise. In South Korea, the finale achieved its highest audience share for the entire season, garnering an impressive nationwide rating of 17.534%.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo has now secured the 7th position among South Korea’s highest-rated cable television dramas of all time. On Netflix too, the series garnered incredible numbers and remained in the top 10 for 8 weeks in the United States.

NME referenced a Dispatch report confirming that Moon Ji-won, the series’ writer and creator, is actively penning the script for Season 2 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

Unfortunately, it seems like fans will have to wait a bit longer. The report indicated that Moon Ji-won won’t commence work on the season right away, as they are currently engrossed in a new feature film project slated for 2023.

Here’s what ASTORY mentioned about season 2, via Soompi:

“Because Moon Ji Won is currently busy with the preparations for her film, she will not be able to write the script right away. We think she will be able to start preparing the script in earnest after she wraps up her film at the beginning of next year.”

Lacking a script, production for Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 won’t kick off in the near future. The report from Soompi also mentioned that there are no production plans in place right now.

Sadly, it appears that we’ll have to wait for an extended period before Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 makes its way on TV and Netflix. As of now, the scripts for the second season remain unwritten, and with the year already halfway through 2023, a 2024 release date seems increasingly unlikely.

How many episodes will be there in Season 2?

Also, not knowing the exact number, we know how many episodes the following season may have. It is realistic to anticipate that season 2 will have a comparable number of episodes to season 1, which had 16 episodes. However, despite the very positive ground it is now on, it is not yet formally official.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 will continue to provide gripping courtroom drama and legal disputes. The show depicts the complexities of legal proceedings with aggressive cross-examinations, surprise plot turns, and riveting arguments that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Moreover, CEO Lee Sang-baek reportedly told The Korea Herald that screenwriter Moon Ji-won is on board to pen a potential second season if it really goes into production. If such is the case, Ji-won will probably face many challenges in the future. The debate about how the show portrays autism should also be taken into account.

At the time of the renewal announcement for Extraordinary Attorney Woo’s second season, ASTORY CEO Lee Sang Baek declared that there were no intentions to replace the cast. Barring unforeseen developments, the objective is to retain at least 90% of the original season’s cast. Here’s a look at the first season’s cast:

  • Park Eun Bin as Woo Young Woo
  • Kang Tae Oh as Lee Joon Ho
  • Kang Ki Young as Jung Myung Seok
  • Jeon Bae Soo as Wo Gwang Ho
  • Baek Ji Won as Han Seon Young
