Akshay Kumar races against time in Mission Raniganj

Akshay Kumar desperately races against time to save miners as the trailer for Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue is unveiled.

The film is based on IIT Dhanbad mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who rescued 65 miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989.

Akshay portrays Jaswant while Parineeti – who recently got married to Raghav Chadha – plays Jaswant’s wife Nirdosh Gill.

The trailer has an intense start, with a siren blaring and miners trying to run out of the mine.

It then cuts to a traffic jam and the lead character asking:

“What happened?”

Back in the mine, water seeps in and traps the miners.

The incident leads to protests and chaos as locals grow impatient over the delay in launching a rescue mission.

While others believe the trapped miners are dead, Jaswant insists they should go into the mine.

It quickly becomes a race against time as Jaswant reveals:

“We only have 48 hours to save these miners.”

Jaswant then comes up with a rescue plan, using a technique that was the first of its kind in India at the time.

He eventually takes matters into his own hands and goes down into the mine himself.

The trailer also shows a glimpse of Parineeti as Nirdosh as she says:

“He’s a miner first and then my husband.”

The real-life mission has impressed viewers and many have stated that Akshay has returned to the heroic role he was known for in the 1990s.

One said: “Only 90s and 2000s kids can understand the feelings of seeing Akshay Kumar sir back in this role.”

Another said: “There is no doubt that this will go down as one of the finest performances of Akshay Kumar.

“Can’t wait for the big screen experience. Absolutely a must-watch.

“Hats off to the entire team for bringing this wonderful story to life.”

Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue is set to release in cinemas on October 6, 2023.

The filmmakers recently unveiled the track ‘Jalsa 2.0’. Performed by Satinder Sartaaj, Akshay and Parineeti are dressed in traditional Punjabi attire.
