Titled Horses in Heaven, the latest instalment suggest that John Dutton (Kevin Costner) has invited big trouble for himself by eliminating hundreds of jobs by stopping the airport project. He is also in continuous trouble related to the death of the Yellowstone National Park wolves. In order to sort the matter, he got Summer Higgins (Piper Perabo) out on a six-month release and hires him as an Environmental consultant.

Monica and Kayce laid their son to rest. Kayce virtually resigned as Livestock Commissioner. Jamie gets Beth out of jail. However, they had a major crackup when she learned he has a son.  Jamie and Sarah finally hooked up. Beth spies on them.

Fans are eagerly waiting for Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 5, to drop on Paramount. We know you are excited to know what lies ahead. So, here’s a quick look at the preview frame by frame.

Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 5 Preview

Titled Watch’em Ride Away, Episode 5 is directed by Christina Voros and written by Taylor Sheridan.

The preview opens with a flashback to young John Dutton riding a horse on the ranch with the bunkhouse boys from that time. While he’s leading the group, a Kevin Costner (present-day John) voiceover delivers the following words: “First Duttons to settle this valley, fighting was all they knew.” We get to see present-day John Dutton sharing that learning with Rip.

Next, we see Beth and John sitting outside the ranch. Beth tells him, “She is not gonna help you, dad. You have invited your worst enemy to sleep in your bed.” We assume Beth was warning her dad about Summer.

Sarah walks into Jamie’s office. She profoundly tells him, “Market Equities or its partners, we can do whatever we want.”

Then the preview clip cut back to Beth and John, where Beth once again warns John. “They want the land, dad, That is all that you need to understand.”

In a callback to the opening voiceover, John tells Rip, “Cowards rule these days, Rip. It’s time we show them what we do and how we do it.”

The closing image of the Episode 5 preview shows a present-day John Dutton on horseback, leading those from the bunkhouse (also on horseback) in the dark.

Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 5: What to expect?

Here are a few plot pointers for Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 5:

Beth isn’t happy with Summer’s return: Summer’s return to the Dutton Ranch isn’t something that Beth is happy about. We are assuming Beth’s “She is not gonna help you, dad. You have invited your worst enemy to sleep in your bed.” warning was about Summer. So, will John Dutton’s soft corner for the environmental activist cause conflict between the father-daughter duo?

Sarah and Jamie’s mystery: In Episode 4, Sarah and Jamie finally hook up. Beth saw them, too. In the preview clip, Sarah says,  “Market Equities or its partners, we can do whatever we want.” Do she has full control over Jamie now? Well, we will get to know in the next episode.

The “fighting was all they knew” callback: This particular warning line by John is a big sign of something big about to happen.  We anticipate that history is about to repeat itself. “First Duttons to settle this valley, fighting was all they knew,” John says, ready for another fight. “Cowards rule these days, Rip. It’s time we show them what we do and how we do it.”

‘Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 5’ airs on Paramount on Sunday, Dec 4, 2022.
