James Wan announced the start of the sequel’s filming on Instagram on October 12, 2022, along with a photo of a portion of the set. Later that year, production came to an end. What will The Nun 2 be about?

The Nun 2 follows Sister Irene as she encounters the demonic power Valak, the Nun, at a boarding school in France, four years after the events of the first movie. The movie delves deeper into the “depth of the demon.” Investigating the demon’s personality can provide an indication as to how Ed and Lorraine Warren will ultimately handle the evil spirit in the Conjuring films.

Maurice, commonly known as “Frenchie,” was discovered to have been taken over by the demon Valak at the end of the first Nun movie. Twenty years later, at Ed and Lorraine Warren’s seminars, a film of Maurice’s exorcism was exhibited. Lorraine also had terrifying images of Ed’s death during the exorcism. Therefore, it’s possible that the upcoming instalment will cover everything.

A brand new video teases The Nun 2’s connection to the franchise’s main Conjuring story. It features commentary by franchise creator James Wan, director Michael Chaves, and the cast as they discuss Valak’s return.

In the video, Wan seemingly teases The Nun 2’s connection to the franchise’s main Conjuring story, hinting at a full-circle moment that would tie Valak to the Warrens. The featurette also offers new details to the story including the demon nun’s bloody quest to find an ancient relic that would make it more powerful. The church is once again relying on Taissa Farmiga’s Sister Irene to stop Valak before it keeps on killing priests and nuns across Europe.
