Severance Season 2: The much-awaited season’s scheduled launch has been put on hold and is not coming back in 2023!

Severance is an American science fiction psychological thriller television series created by Dan Erickson. On February 18, 2022, the show had its Apple TV+ debut. Since then, it has garnered accolades from critics and viewers for its cinematography, direction, production design, musical score, plot, and performances.

The story centers on Mark, a Lumon Industries employee who consents to a “severance” program that separates his work memories from his personal recollections. When Season 1 came to a dramatic end earlier last year, viewers were left yearning for explanations.

And now, people are everywhere for information about whether there will be a season 2 or whether the story will end abruptly. Well, if you are one of them, you have come to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about Severance Season 2.

Is there any release date for Severance Season 2?

Severance received the official go-ahead for season two the week before the season one finale (April 8, 2022) aired. The fandom was very eager to see Severance Season 2 when it was announced that it would be airing on Apple TV+ in 2023–2024.

But unfortunately, this good news didn’t last very long because the season’s scheduled launch was postponed! The 2023 Writers Guild of America strike caused the season’s production to stop on May 8, 2023. Filming eventually began in Newfoundland, but production was again halted.

When asked about how long the wait would be, Stiller replied to a fan on Twitter (now X),

It took us a couple of years to make S1. Hope you can hang in!

Patricia Arquette also suggests fans should wait, telling Entertainment Tonight, “You’ll get it when you get it. And you won’t get upset.”

There’s no word on when we’ll get to see fresh episodes of Severance, especially now that filming has halted and the strike looks far from getting over. However, one thing is certain, the show isn’t coming back this year and fans will have to wait for a little more.

Release date prediction: March or April 2024

What will Severance Season 2 be about?

We have no idea yet! Creator Dan Erickson didn’t reveal much at the Severance Comic-Con panel in 2022, saying only that Season 2 would focus on “building out the world a little bit more, and with this tweak to reality, what the ramifications would be.”

When asked whether the show will explain what the deal is with the goats, Erickson simply replied, “Yeah.” Great!

Given how the season one finale devastated the lives of the Core Office Four, season two of Severance is going to be far more devastating than the first. Helly has ruined a significant business event that was planned to promote the severance process after learning that her father, Mr. Eagan, is a major Lumon player.

As a result, her innie may have to pay a high price or her outie may have a lot of work to do to hide what transpired. Moreover, poor Irving may be tending to a wounded heart after learning that his love interest Burt was actually a happily married guy who was preparing to retire and start a new life with his husband. Also, the season will undoubtedly continue the storylines from the final episode of the first season.

Who will be in Severance Season 2?

Apple TV+ has revealed that all the severed and un-severed Lumon employees from the first season will return. They are:

• Adam Scott as Mark Scout, a severed worker for Lumon Industries in the Macrodata Refinement division
• Zach Cherry as Dylan George, Mark’s severed co-worker, who particularly enjoys company perks
• Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel, the manager of the severed floor at Lumon, who has a false identity outside of work as Mrs. Selvig
• Britt Lower as Helly Riggs, a new severed employee who replaces Petey, much to her chagrin.
• Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick, the supervisor on the severed floor at Lumon.
• John Turturro as Irving Bailiff, Mark’s severed co-worker, who is a stickler for company policy and is drawn to Burt
• Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman, the severed head of the Optics and Design division who is drawn to Irving.
• Dichen Lachman as Ms. Casey, the wellness counselor on the severed floor.

Additionally, to everyone’s surprise, Apple TV+ has revealed that Severance Season 2 would also add eight new talents to its cast in undisclosed roles. Check out the list below:
