Amir Khan willing to ‘Put Pounds On’ to ‘Beat Up’ Jake Paul

Retired boxer Amir Khan has claimed that he would happily put on weight and return to the ring to “beat up” Jake Paul.

Khan’s career came to an end after a sixth-round TKO loss to Kell Brook in February 2022.

And despite being happy to leave the ring, he has said that he would happily come out of retirement to face the controversial Jake Paul.

The YouTuber boasts over 20 million subscribers but in recent years, he has turned to boxing.

Paul’s professional record stands at 7-1, however, boxing fans have criticised his choice of opponents, with many of his wins coming against MMA fighters who are past their prime.

His lone loss came against British boxer Tommy Fury.

Although Jake Paul has never fought lighter than 13 stone, Amir Khan said he is happy to put on weight to fight him.

On Heart Breakfast, Khan said: “Jake Paul, he gets on my nerves a little bit.

“I think the way he conducts himself the way he acts and he’s just full of himself as well and he thinks he can fight, he’s only been boxing for like a year, so yeah, I’d love to fight him.

“He’s been very lucky though, he’s a little bit heavier than me but I don’t mind putting the pounds on just to beat him up.”

Khan has put on some weight since retiring and he joked during an interview on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X that his wife Faryal Makhdoom has told him to get back into the gym.

He explained: “You’re always in training camp everyday you’re or you’re going for a run you’re always burning calories.

“Your body is so used to burning calories, we’re eating a lot a lot because you need the nutrients in the body.

“You’re having four or five meals sometimes six small meals throughout the whole day.”

“As soon as you take the training away your body is so used to eating that many times, by then you’re not burning those calories, you’re still eating and just adding on the weight and before you know it then boom.”

When Chris Moyles said he was still in “good nick”, Khan laughed before stating that his wife disagrees.

He joked: “Well, the wife doesn’t think that.

“She’s always having a go at me saying ‘get to the gym!’ honestly, it’s come to a stage where now I want to walk past the gym instead of in a gym. I’m done.”

After his bout against Kell Brook, it was revealed that Khan had tested positive for ostarine but it was deemed to be in his system unintentionally.

He received a two-year ban, which was backdated to April 2022.

This means that if he wants to make a boxing comeback, Amir Khan would be able to around springtime 2024.
