One of the most popular TV series, Yellowstone, returned for its fifth season on Nov 13, 2022. Around 12.1 million viewers watched the premiere making it the biggest TV premiere of all time. Like the previous four instalments, the new chapter has received a tremendous reception from critics and viewers.
Since its premiere on Nov 13, 2022, we are getting a new episode every Sunday night. There was no new episode on Dec 25, 2022, due to the Christmas break. Seven episodes of Yellowstone season 5 have aired so far and Episode 8 is scheduled to release on Jan 1, 2023.
Unlike the previous seasons of Yellowstone which all had nine or ten episodes, season five has a total of 14 episodes. Part 1 has eight episodes while the second part has six episodes. It means that the eighth episode will serve as the mid-season finale. Now the fans are eager to know when will they get to see the next part. Well, as per the reports coming, the wait for the next part is going to be long, at least a few months.
Filming for the next part hasn’t started yet
In an interview with Outsider earlier this month, Brecken Merrill (who plays Tate Dutton) confirmed that they hadn’t actually filmed anything for the new season past episode eight. At the time of that interview, he hadn’t even seen any scripts. As per some reports we have, the filming for the next six episodes of the fifth season would start in March 2023.

Now the big question. When are we going to get the ninth episode of the fifth season? Considering that the scripts are in place and the filming starts in March 2023, we can expect the next part (episode 9) to release in June 2023. Well, June is the month when the new seasons of Yellowstone used to premiere prior to the fourth season which was delayed due to the pandemic.
Will there be Yellowstone Season 6?
There is no official update on the next season. However, considering the popularity of the show, we can expect it to get a few more seasons at least. One can expect Paramount to officially renew the series for a sixth season in Feb 2023.
Meanwhile, the Yellowstone universe is expanding at a quick pace. After a prequel 1883 that debuted in 2021, another prequel 1923 debuted on Dec 18, 2022. A third spinoff series, 6666, will debut on Paramount+ in 2023.
