Will Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ save Bollywood?

He’s gonna revive Hindi cinema.

August 11 saw the release of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan.

Trade experts had massive expectations from the two films since Bollywood has been going through a rough patch for the past few months.

However, the day one business of both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan has come as a shocker for the Hindi film industry.

Both Aamir and Akshay recorded their lowest opening day numbers in recent times as the Advait Chandan directorial raked in Rs 12 crore and the Aanand L Rai film collected Rs 8.20 crore.

The below-par first-day figures of the latest releases have set alarm bells ringing for Bollywood as the industry is in a dire need of a successful film.

Netizens, who keep a close tab on the Indian box office, are of the view that only Shah Rukh Khan can revive the ailing Hindi film industry with his upcoming set of releases, the first of which will be Pathaan.

Ever since the disappointing news of the dismal business of the two new releases has come out, Pathaan has been one of the top trending topics on Twitter.

Netizens have been highlighting the massive hype that the actioner is carrying and are confident that Shah Rukh Khan’s star power will bring back the audience to cinemas.

A Twitter user wrote: “#Pathaan is going to get audiences back to theatres in a big way.

“Shah Rukh Khan has an insane fan following, all he needs is a good film to deliver.”

Another said: “Mark my words! 2023 is waiting for #SRK as is Bollywood! He’s gonna revive Hindi cinema. Make way for the king.”

A third commented: “Woke up to videos of fans going crazy seeing @iamsrk in #LaalSinghChadha.

“Same happened when he was seen in @ActorMadhavan’s Rocketry The Nambi Effect. King is teasing audiences with his appearances.

“When #Pathaan releases, it’ll be nothing less than a festival in the theatres.”

Shah Rukh Khan will be returning to the big screen after four years with Pathaan co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the Yash Raj Films production will release on January 25, 2023.

Shah Rukh Khan will then be seen in Jawan alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. The Atlee directorial is slated to release on June 2, 2023.

Finally, the Bollywood superstar will end the year with Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which also features Taapsee Pannu.
