Karan Johar was invited to the Houses of Parliament on June 20, 2023, to receive an honour.

The filmmaker was celebrated for his 25 years in the Bollywood film industry.

The event was hosted by Baroness Verma of Leicester, and various members of Parliament also attended.

Donning a black shirt and suit, Karan held a framed letter outside UK Parliament.

In another photo, Karan is shown receiving his honour from Baroness Verma.

He also took the opportunity to release a teaser for his upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

On Instagram, he wrote: “Today has been such a special day!

“I am fortunate and deeply grateful to be honoured at the British House of Parliament, in London by the esteemed Baroness Verma of Leicester.

“We celebrated my 25th year as a filmmaker in the film industry and I launched the teaser for #RockyAurRaniKiiPremKahani too!

“It’s one of those days where I pinch myself and realise that dreams do come true.

“Thank you everyone for the unabashed love you have shown me in my journey.

“And I promise you, there is more to come!”

In a statement, Dharma Productions said:

“It only gets grander with double the celebration!

“We’re over the moon to see our captain, Karan Johar honoured at the British Parliament in London TODAY for his contribution to the global entertainment industry – celebrating his 25th anniversary year!”

Members of the Bollywood fraternity also rushed to congratulate Karan Johar on his achievements.

Anil Kapoor commented: “Congratulations my friend.”

Raveena Tandon added: “Congratulations! Well deserved!”

Soni Razdan, mother of Alia Bhatt wrote: “How wonderful. Many congratulations to you. You so deserve all this and much more.”

London holds a memorable place in Karan’s heart as a number of his films were filmed there.

This includes his early releases Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (his directorial debut in 1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, with the latter being one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films in the UK.

Karan was appointed a Visit Britain Goodwill Ambassador for an exclusive campaign in 2012 which was based on enticing crowds to visit and tour the country.

On the work front, Karan Johar will be returning to the director’s chair after seven years with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani set to release on July 28, 2023.

The family-based film stars legendary actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are cast in the lead roles.
