Why did Shah Rukh Khan sign to do ‘Jawan’?

Shah Rukh Khan is currently gearing up for the release of Jawan. Directed by Atlee, the film is one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2023.

It is set to hit cinemas on September 7, 2023.

The film showcases SRK in a dual role, essaying the characters of Vikram Rathore and Azad Rathore.

Jawan also features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupati in key roles while Deepika Padukone has a special appearance.

SRK has now revealed the reason why he signed the mega motion picture.

Revealing that his children played a big part in his decision, the megastar said:

“I’ll tell you the real reason why I do it.

“One day my elder son and my daughter told me you have to do films which are very cool for the youngest AbRam.

“I thought the only cool thing he likes is all the anime and action films. So I decided to be a superhero and I thought I didn’t look good in a spandex.

“So without getting into a spandex, I got into bandages and that’s why this action film.

“Honestly, I do action films because my kids get very impressed that I am doing some cool things, have six-pack abs, and stuff like that.

“There is no other reason I should do action films.”

SRK’s first release of 2023 was Pathaan. It became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year with a revenue of over Rs. 1,000 Crore (£96 million).

Jawan is also touted as a potentially huge money-spinner. It has sold over 150,000 tickets.

SRK also shared that Atlee’s first description of the film prompted him to hear the story of Jawan:

“I met Atlee during the making of Bigil and I had gone for a match between the Chennai Super Kings with KKR.”

“As always, lost again. I spent some time with him and he was showing me this film just out of love because his wife and he really like me a lot. One thing led to another.

“Covid happened, I was just sitting at home. He just came to see me in Mumbai and he said, ‘I have a film’ and I found it very interesting.

“The first line he told me for the film was this, ‘It is you sir with five girls. My wife and I really feel that you look the nicest when you have a bunch of ladies with you in a film’.”
