On My Block Spin-Off ‘Freeridge’: Release Date, Plot, Cast, & More
Freeridge: Netflix is set to release a spinoff to the hit teen series, On My Block which came to an end in October 2021.

Upon the cancellation of On My Block, viewers have been disappointed and found it difficult to part ways with the friend group which they had started to love through the four seasons. Just to fill in the void, Netflix announced a spin-off series named after the fictional town in Los Angeles where On My Block was based in, Freeridge.
Freeridge is the spin-off of the recently concluded young-adult series, “On My Block”. The first season was announced on September 27, 2021, by Netflix and production for the same began on May 9, 2022, and went through July 5, 2022. According to Variety, production on the show’s first season has officially wrapped.

What will be the plot of Freeridge?
According to Netflix, Freeridge is about “a new crew of friends who may or may not have unleashed a deadly curse, kicking off an unforgettable adventure.”
The show is going to have a completely different plot from On My Block. As realistic and grounded, the show On My Block was, the spin-off seems to be more on the supernatural side.
A few familiar faces will also be shown in the series (hopefully). Along with being a female-centred show, the co-creator of the show, Lauren Iungerich said he’d look forward to working on the title. “There are more stories to tell of our beloved Freeridge, and I cannot wait to continue to work with this talented team.”

On My Block creators Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft are co-creators and executive producers on the spin-iff, along with Jamie Uyeshiro and Jamie Dooner.
Tenzing Norgay Trainor newly joins the cast, while “On My Block” star Peggy Blow appears in a new role. In the original series, Blow played Ruby’s (Jason Genao) grandmother Marisol Martinez, more often known as ‘Abuelita.’ She often accompanied teens on various fun adventures in Freeridge and died in her sleep during the show’s series finale. Blow’s exact role in Freeridge has not been confirmed.

Freeridge Release Date
Netflix hasn’t announced any release date for Freeridge just yet. The show was announced on September 27, 2021, and the production for the same began on May 9, 2022, and through July 5, 2022, in Los Angeles, California. Filming wrapped up on July 9, 2022.
