Mariam Ansari reveals Mental Breakdown during Pregnancy

“I became emotionally vulnerable and I broke down.”

Mariam Ansari has revealed that she suffered a mental breakdown after she shared pictures on Instagram from her pregnancy photoshoot.

She said her happiness was overshadowed by individuals who trolled her over the images.

Mariam said: “When I was pregnant I said to Owais we should have memories of our first pregnancy.

“When I took part in the photoshoot I was six months pregnant.

“My photoshoot was deemed bad. I was told that I am not Muslim.

“People wrote about culture and said that this is a Western culture. I replied and said do Muslim women not get pregnant?

“Some people were very supportive and they even congratulated me, but I felt that my happiness was tarnished and I was forced to deactivate my Instagram account.

“I became emotionally vulnerable and I broke down.”

Mariam Ansari shared a series of black-and-white photographs on Instagram in which she is holding a pair of baby shoes and another where her husband is kneeling and holding her baby bump.

A third photo showed the couple holding up a baby scan while Owais kissed Mariam’s forehead.

In the caption, Mariam revealed that she had already given birth to her daughter Amaya.

She received many messages of congratulations but there were a few individuals who criticised her for the photographs and called her shameful for sharing the intimate images.

One individual had written: “There was a time when women were pregnant and not even their siblings would know.

“Shame on you, now you openly flaunt your pregnant bellies.”

Another added: “Pakistan is ahead of all in the acts of shamelessness.”

At the time Mariam kept a dignified silence and basked in her new role as a mother.

However, a few months later, she took to Instagram to give a befitting reply to her trolls.

Mariam had said:

“Oh my God, the amount of hate I have received on my pregnancy pictures just shows… What do I even say?”

“It’s my profile, my choice. I’ve even had my child. It’s my choice whatever I post. If you don’t like it you shouldn’t follow me.”

Mariam Ansari went on to say that social media was full of hypocrites and that if a barely dressed Nora Fatehi posted a video of her dancing, the video would have been inundated with supportive and loving comments.

She also questioned why the pregnancy was seen as something vulgar and stated that her trolls were also born in the same way.
