Faysal Quraishi to make Punjabi Film Debut

“At the helm of this stellar ensemble is the inimitable Faysal”

Faysal Quraishi will star in Mango Jatt, which will mark his Punjabi film debut.

Abu Aleeha is directing the film and he revealed that it will be a high-octane action thriller.

The big-budget film is set to redefine Punjabi cinema and will bring together popular actors from Punjab and Sindh.

Speaking about Mango Jatt, Abu said:

“The movie is unique in the sense that it is casting experienced theatre actors from both Punjab and Sindh.

“It will be a stepping stone in uniting the provinces’ fan base.

“At the helm of this stellar ensemble is the inimitable Faysal Quraishi, who steps into the shoes of a Punjabi hero for the first time and will be essaying the titular role in the film.”

The script has been written and now, the casting process is underway.

It is reported that negotiations are in full swing with three A-list actresses, who are vying for the female lead.

Abu said the chosen actress will bring her charm to Mango Jatt.

The filmmaker added: “We’re also in talks with three big female actors for the role of a protagonist in the film and are yet to finalise a name.”

Mango Jatt is expected to have a cinema release to coincide with Eid al-Fitr 2024, which will fall on April 10.

The announcement of Faysal Quraishi’s Punjabi film debut comes a few weeks after it was announced that he would return to Hum TV for the first time in eight years.

He had shared the trailer for Zulm.

The trailer was shared on Hum TV’s official Instagram page and Faysal was also tagged in the post.

The caption read: “Unmasking Zulm, a story of injustice and resilience.

“Faysal Quraishi returns to Hum TV after 8 years with this epic drama. Prepare for a breathtaking journey.”

The gripping trailer showed a powerful and influential Faysal causing trouble with a group of men.

It ended with Faysal motioning for an individual to be pushed off a boat and into the sea.

It is not clear when Zulm is set to hit our TV screens but the drama boasts a stellar cast with the likes of Shehzad Sheikh, Saba Faisal, Tazeen Hussain, Sahar Hashmi and Raeed Alam.

It has been written by Rehana Aftab and directed by Ilyas Kashmiri.
