The gripping trailer shows a powerful and influential Faysal causing trouble with a group of men.

It ends with Faysal motioning for an individual to be pushed off a boat and into the sea.

Viewers said they were eagerly waiting for the show to begin. Others said there was no better actor than Faysal Quraishi to play a villainous role.

One fan said: “This is going to break some records and make some records. I can’t wait.”

Another commented: “Finally the living legend Faysal is back with a bang.”

A third added: “It’s so nice to see Faysal make a comeback on Hum TV.”

Earlier in 2023, Faysal criticised Pakistani dramas, saying that the majority of storylines consisted of love stories because that is the only story that viewers wanted to watch.

He was asked why he chose scripts that paired him with much younger actresses, to which he replied:

“Yes I agree that we can make mature love stories, but there is a problem.

“Our people only watch dramas that address marriages, I can only name the drama serial Pinjra which shows different content.

“All other dramas revolve around marriage.

“I did a drama serial called Naraz, the story revolved around the relationship of a father and son, but nobody watched it.

“In Pakistan, there is no other issue than marriage.

“If you ask a person what they want to do, they reply they want to get married, and that’s how it is.”

“We try to make changes but we can’t do more because it is a hit formula and then we do satisfy our urge to perform challenging characters through projects like Aik Thi Laila.”

It is not clear when Zulm is set to hit our TV screens but the drama boasts a stellar cast with the likes of Shehzad Sheikh, Saba Faisal, Tazeen Hussain, Sahar Hashmi and Raeed Alam.

It has been written by Rehana Aftab and directed by Ilyas Kashmiri.
