The year 2020 was not so great for the budget smartphones in the sub Rs 10,000 segment. Due to the hike in GST and also lockdown and production issues, companies started raising the price of smartphones in this segment. However, fast forward January 2021, the segment has got a bit better thanks to some price drops and a couple of new launches. 

The smartphones under Rs 10,000 segment now consists of smartphones from Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola, Samsung and Poco. 

These smartphones offer a good overall good user experience with a solid build, great battery life, a display that is good for day to day usage and an improved camera at very reasonable prices.

Poco M2 price was slashed in India recently by Rs 1,000 for the base variant and the top variant received Rs 1,500 price cut. This is also the cheapest phone with 6GB of RAM in India currently. This device is suitable for all the multitaskers and also casual gamers. The Poco M2 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset with. The Mali G52 clocked at 950MHz takes care of the graphics duties. MediaTek’s HyperEngine Gaming technology also makes the cut which added performance and gaming optimization 

The Poco M2 also brings dual-tone polycarbonate body along with an anti-fingerprint texture. The fingerprint scanner is located under the cameras on the back. On the front, the Poco M2 sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display. There’s a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth sensor for portraits on the rear while selfies are handled by an 8MP shooter. The latest surprise return to the Prime series, the Redmi 9 Prime is the only smartphone in the segment to feature a Full HD display. You get a 6.53-inch LCD screen with a waterdrop notch and a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. It has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a peak brightness of about 400 nits. Under the hood, the Redmi 9 Prime is powered by Mediatek’s Helio G80 SoC.
