1883 may have ended on a heart-wrenching note, but the Duttons are here to stay for long. Creator Taylor Sheridan has decided to expand the Yellowstone Universe. We will see a lot of prequels and spin-offs in the coming years.
The first one on the list is a Yellowstone prequel series titled 1932. The series will introduce a new generation of the Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. It takes place around 20 to 25 years before the birth of John Dutton III, played on Yellowstone by Kevin Costner.
The first prequel to Yellowstone, 1883 had Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May, LaMonica Garrett, Marc Rissmann, Audie Rick, Eric Nelsen, and James Landry Hébert. It followed the Duttons’ journey across the plains to Montana, which ultimately becomes their place for generations to come.
1883 garnered excellent responses from the viewers and critics. Though the fans are demanding 1883 Season 2, it was a one-season series that concluded with a heartbreak. However, there will be a spin-off to it titled 1883: The Bass Reeves Story.

1932 will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ in December, following Yellowstone Season 5’s premiere on November 13, 2022.
Who will star in 1932?
Two of the biggest Hollywood stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren would feature in the Yellowstone prequel. There have been a lot of speculations around their characters and roles. Ford and Mirren are in their late 70s. So, the question is whether they’re playing younger, older, or not Dutton at all. It would be interesting to see the two big Hollywood superstars on the canvas for one of the most popular American shows.

Just like the first prequel, 1883, 1932 will be exclusively available to stream on Paramount+. Paramount+ will also be an exclusive home to spinoff 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. Another Yellowstone spinoff 6666 will air on Paramount Network.
How many episodes will be there in 1932?
Though Paramount hasn’t confirmed the episode count, we are expecting it to be 10. Our assumption is based on the fact that 1883 and Yellowstone’s previous seasons had 10 episodes.
