When can Viewers expect Rocket Boys Season 2?
Sony LIV’s popular biographical drama web series Rocket Boys is set to return with a second season, after delivering the first successful season.
Directed by Abhay Pannu, the web series made its debut on February 4, 2022, and received positive reviews from people as well as critics.
Release details of the new season are being awaited.
However, media sources state that the show is expected to release in the first few months of 2023.
A few days after the premiere of season one, Nikhil Advani, the creator of Rocket Boys said that work on the second season was already underway.
Season two will detail the challenges that Indian scientists faced while developing the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Dr Homi J Bhabha and Dr Vikram Sarabhai, two characters who play a significant role in Indian history for their commitment to science, are at the centre of the plot of Rocket Boys.
The plot is set in the period between 1940 and 1960.
At the time, India was renowned for being resilient, bold, and independent, and throughout the early stages of ISRO’s development.
The contribution of the scientists was viewed as being of extreme significance.
A synopsis of the web series reads:
“It chronicles the illustrious life of three great men responsible for launching India’s space and nuclear programmes respectively.”
“Dr Homi J Bhabha, the architect of India’s Nuclear Programme, Dr Vikram Sarabhai, universally acknowledged as the Father of the Indian Space Programme and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the pioneer of modern Indian aerospace and nuclear technology.
“The season traces the journey of Dr Bhabha and Dr Sarabhai coming to terms with the challenges facing a young, independent nation and creating long-term solutions for the betterment of the country and its people.
“A story of friendship, sacrifice and great determination; it’s emblematic of the journey of our country as it emerges into a new, post-war world.”
Rocket Boys season 2 will include the majority of the cast from season 1, including Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh who play Dr Homi J Bhabha and Dr Vikram Sarabhai, respectively.
Other cast members include:
- Regina Cassandra as Vikram’s wife Mrinalini Sarabhai
- Saba Azad as Parvana Irani
- Rajat Kapoor as Jawaharlal Nehru
- Dibyendu Bhattacharya as Raza Mehdi
- Arjun Radhakrishnan as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam
