Taapsee Pannu shares new poster for ‘Shabaash Mithu’

Taapsee Pannu shared an exciting new poster for her upcoming 2022 movie, Shabaash Mithu.

The highly anticipated film will see Taapsee play the role of the former captain of the India women’s national cricket team, Mithali Raj.

Sharing the vibrant poster, we see the actress as Mithali raising her bat and helmet under the stadium’s bright lights.

Taapsee took to her social media to share the striking image and captioned it saying:

“She continues to inspire millions like me. To break a few stereotypes to lay down a new path ahead for many to follow.

“This Women’s Day I am cheering for the front runners in the fight to #BreakTheBias.”

Sayan Roy reacted to the poster release on Twitter, commenting:

“Cannot wait for this big-screen experience. Can’t think of anyone else who could’ve done justice to it.”

Another person replied on Instagram, writing: “Super excited for it. Huge fan of you.”

Whilst a third person said: “Taapsee is the designated sportswoman of Bollywood.”

The biographical release will detail the journey of the women’s captain as she overcomes her struggles to a euphoric rise in cricket.

Mithali led India to the Women’s Cricket World Cup final in 2017 and is nicknamed the ‘Lady Tendulkar of Indian Women’s Cricket’.

The terrific athlete also holds the record for playing the most consecutive Women’s One Day Internationals at 109.

So, there’s no surprise as to why fans are so eagerly waiting for the movie’s release.

Interestingly, Mithali had a different actress in mind during early talks of the biopic, saying:

“I think Priyanka Chopra will be a great choice (to play me in the biopic).

“Our personalities match a lot. I am not a movie buff, so I’d love the experts to do their job.”

However, there is no doubt that Taapsee Pannu wants to give a show-stopping performance, especially coming off the success of Rashmi Rocket and Haseen Dillruba.

In preparation for Shabaash Mithu, Taapsee trained under Nooshin Al Khadeer, a former cricket player.

Filming spanned different locations, including Lord’s Cricket Ground, for an engaging and immersive backdrop.

The movie was originally being directed by Rahul Dholakia but due to a change of schedule, the new director is Srijit Mukherji.

With such a plethora of accolades, emotions and events to address in the movie, it’s on track to become a box office success upon release.
