Raksha Bandhan Box Office Collection Day 1: Dismal Opening

Bollywood’s poor run continues as two big releases of the week, Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha are off to a dismal start at the box office. We have already discussed Laal Singh Chaddha’s opening day box office report, and it’s time to look at how Akshay Kumar’s family-drama movie performed on its opening day.
As per early reports, Aanand L Rai’s directional is off to a dismal start at the Indian box office. Reports suggest that the first-day collection of Raksha Bandhan is around Rs 8 Crore.

The opening day numbers of Raksha Bandhan even are less than Samrat Prithviraj and Bachchan Pandey. Both of them were huge flops at the box office. If Raksha Bandhan fails to make the most of the upcoming holidays then it will be Akshay’s third big flop of 2022.
An opening day of Rs 8 Crore is way below expectations for an Akshay Kumar’s stature. In fact, it is his lowest opening in the last 10 years. Special 26 released in 2013 collected Rs 7 Crore on its opening day. Since then every Akshay Kumar (lead role) movie has at least earned Rs 9 Crore on its opening. (Bell Bottom is not considered).
Raksha Bandhan Box Office
With a week full of national holidays, and public response on a positive end, I am expecting the Akshay Kumar starrer to post decent numbers in the coming days. One good factor is that the budget is only Rs 80 Crore. So, it just needs to earn Rs 100 Crore to be in a profitable zone.
However, the poor opening of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan is a big concern for the industry. 2022 has been a terrible year for Bollywood with more than 30 flops. So, it’s high time for the industry to reconsider and reevaluate its projects. If we look at the trend, the audience is only looking for big screen spectacles and mass entertainers like KGF Chapter 2, RRR, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and more.
