Pakistani Teenager illegally entered India to Marry Boyfriend

A 19-year-old Pakistani woman has been arrested for entering India illegally to marry her boyfriend and later forging documents to live in Bengaluru.

The woman was identified as Iqra Jeewani. Police said she married Mulayam Singh Yadav, a 25-year-old security guard originally from Uttar Pradesh.

Mulayam has also been arrested for providing shelter to Iqra.

The arrests came after the state intelligence bureau received a tip-off that a Pakistani national had entered India without valid documents and was living in Bengaluru.

Originally from Pakistan’s Sindh province, Iqra met Mulayam on an online gaming app a few months ago. They began speaking and soon fell in love.

According to police, Mulayam initially did not know Iqra was from Pakistan.

After deciding to get married, Mulayam helped her reach Nepal.

They then got married in Kathmandu. Afterwards, they travelled to Bihar before going to Bengaluru, where Mulayam has lived for seven years.

The couple moved into a rented house and Mulayam got a job as a security guard. He has been in the job since September 2022.

It was reported that Mulayam changed his wife’s name to Rava Yadav and got her an Aadhaar card. He also applied for an Indian passport.

The matter came to light when central intelligence agencies came across Iqra when she tried to contact her relatives in Pakistan.

The state intelligence was then informed.

Police verified the details before raiding the property and arresting the couple.

A police officer said: “A person by the name Mulayam Singh Yadav, 26 (originally from UP and working as a security in a private company in HSR layout) got in contact with a 19-year-old girl from Hyderabad (Pakistan) last year through the gaming app, Ludo.

“They both planned to get married and the man got her to come to India through Kathmandu, Nepal in September 2022.”

“They settled in Labour quarters in Bellandur police station limits. Now, she has been handed over to the Foreigners Registration Office (FRRO).

“A case has been filed against the man and he was also subsequently arrested.”

The case has been filed under Section 7(2) of the Foreigners Act and sections 420, 465, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Iqra has since been remanded to a state home for women while the investigation continues.

The police are verifying Iqra’s background to check whether she is part of an espionage ring.
