Ms Marvel’s official Poster features art by Pakistani Artist

Fans have been anxiously waiting for Ms Marvel, Marvel’s upcoming series on its first-ever Pakistani Muslim superhero, Kamala Khan.

While the buzz around the upcoming show has been rife, Marvel has now released its official poster.

And what’s more, it features artwork by a Pakistani artist.

Shehzil Malik took to Instagram and shared that her artwork was chosen by Marvel to be included in the poster.

The artist penned on Instagram: “The Ms Marvel poster is here!

“Marvel asked to use some of my artworks in the show to represent Kamala Khan’s heritage as a Muslim/Pakistani-American superhero, and it’s so exciting to see it come together!”

She went on to express her gratitude to Pakistani filmmaker, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, who has also directed two episodes of the Marvel web series.

Shehzil added: “Thank you to Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy for thinking of me and the Marvel team for including my art in the show.”

The Pakistani artist concluded her post by clarifying that the poster is designed by Marvel.

She wrote: “Original artworks that they’ve collaged in the background are by me.”

Playing the role of Kamala Khan and Ms Marvel is Iman Vellani.

The first trailer for the new series Ms Marvel was released on March 15, 2022.

In addition to handling school, boys, and figuring out her future, Kamala embarks on a journey to hone her powers and ultimately save the world.

The trailer offers a guide to Kamala, played by Iman Vellani, a Pakistani-American teenager who loves drawing and comics.

The series is slated to follow the teenager’s rise to superherodom as she learns to harness her powers.

The trailer begins with Kamala in the high-school guidance counsellor’s office, while doodles of speech bubbles, hearts and devil horns pop up on the screen.

Kamala is seen as the typical superhero nerd, but at some point, she gets cosmic powers, like the ability to launch energy blasts and create stepping stones to walk in the air.

Later in the trailer, she throws some cosmic punches with a giant, glowing fist.

The cast also includes Fawad Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Nimra Bucha, Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azhar Usman and Travina Springer.

Ms Marvel, which is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4, will premiere on Disney+ in the summer of 2022.

The show is created by Bisha K Ali.
