Iqra Aziz unveils 1st Look at ‘Aik Thi Laila’
Iqra Aziz has shared the first look at her new murder-mystery Aik Thi Laila, which is directed by her husband Yasir Hussain.
The tale of Laila and Majnu is typically known as a romance but this new project puts a murder-mystery twist on it.
The drama’s first teaser was posted on Instagram by the Suno Chanda actress on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
Iqra Aziz captioned the post with two questions:
“Who actually is this Laila? Who is her majnu [lover]?”
Iqra said that the drama will begin soon, and praised her crew for making her appear “natural yet beautiful.”
In the teaser, Laila is introduced as a well-known figure in her neighbourhood.
Laila from Punjab gali is well-known, the narrator explains that she is “just like France’s perfumes and Bengal’s tigers are well-known”.
But nobody can seem to figure out who Laila’s lover is.
The narrator asks: “But there are two questions, first, who is Laila’s majnu?”
The screen then flashes images of her next to other males.
The plot seems to become clearer with the second question and what appears to be all the men she was seen with being interrogated by the police.
“And second, where is Laila?”
At the end of the video, Yasir Hussain also makes an appearance, but it is not known what his role is in the project.
Fans of the couple have taken to social media to share their excitement for the new project, which is coming to Express Entertainment.
One Twitter user commented:
“My kind of TV… if Express Entertainment continues this trend, they might kill the competition. Beware, be very aware!”
An Instagram user took to Iqra Aziz’s teaser post to express excitement and joy for the actress:
“Best of luck my Laila can’t wait to see you.”
A second supporter said: “Our girl is back with a masterpiece.”
Yasir Hussain shared how he feels interacting with his wife in a professional environment on set and said:
“She is a wonderful actor and a great person to work with.”
He added that this is “any director’s dream cast”.
The Aik Thi Laila director also revealed that Hina Amaan is the film’s producer.
Quraishi, Gul-e-Rana, Hasan Ahmed, Nayyar Ejaz, Faiza Iftikhar, and Fareeha Jabeen will all appear in the film.
It is expected to be released in October 2023.
