How did Jada Pinkett Smith react to Will’s Slap?

A video appears to show how Jada Pinkett Smith reacted to her husband Will Smith slapping Chris Rock.

The incident was the main talking point at the 2022 Oscars, with the Academy launching a formal review into the event.

Chris Rock took to the stage to present ‘Best Documentary’.

He then made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith and her shaved head which is a result of hairloss condition alopecia.

Chris said: “Jada, I love ya. GI Jane 2, I can’t wait to see it!”

As the comedian delivered the joke, Jada was seen rolling her eyes.

Will initially appeared to be laughing before walking onto the stage and slapping Chris before returning to his seat and demanding that Chris keep Jada’s name “out of his f*****g mouth.”

Will went on to win ‘Best Actor’ for playing the father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams in King Richard.

He later issued a public apology to Chris, stating that his behaviour was “unacceptable and inexcusable”.

Footage filmed on a mobile phone has since been circulating on TikTok appearing to show Jada’s reaction to the incident.

The video is shown from the viewpoint of someone sitting behind the couple

Although Jada’s face cannot be seen, she appears to hunch forward in laughter in the immediate aftermath of the slap.

Chris reacts by saying: “Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me.”

As Will shouts at the comedian, Jada remains still and sat in an upright position.

She briefly looks at her husband as he shouts:

“Keep my wife’s name out your f*****g mouth.”

Meanwhile, the audience gasps and murmurs as they realise the slap was not part of a comedy skit.

Jada looks at Chris as he tries to explain that it was a joke, however, Will continues to shout at him.

Jada then appears to laugh again when Chris attempts to brush the moment off, calling it:

“The greatest night in the history of television.”

Since the incident, Jada Pinkett Smith broke her silence on the matter, writing in an Instagram post:

“This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.”

Meanwhile, Chris Rock addressed the incident during his stand-up comedy show on March 30, 2022.

He asked the crowd: “Soooo, how was your weekend?”

Chris then tearfully continued: “Let me be all misty and s***.

“I don’t have a bunch of s*** to say about that, so if you came here for that… I had written a whole show before this weekend.

“I’m still processing what happened, so at some point I’ll talk about that s***.

“It’ll be serious. It’ll be funny, but right now I’m going to tell some jokes.”
