2022 has been a terrible year for Bollywood so far. While two South Indian biggies RRR and KGF Chapter 2 have emerged as the biggest blockbusters of all time, most Hindi movies have tanked at the box office. We are in the eighth month of the year and out of 25 notable Bollywood releases, only three have emerged as hits at the box office. In this box office report, we are looking at the biggest Bollywood flop movies of 2022.

Bachchan Pandey

Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited action comedy movie Bachchan Pandey debuted in theatres on March 18. A remake of the 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda failed to cross even Rs 50 Crore mark.

Budget: Rs 165 Crore (including Akshay Kumar’s pay)

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 49.9 Crore

Verdict: Disaster

Jersey

Shahid Kapoor tried to repeat the blockbuster success of Kabir Singh with Jersey. It was a remake of a Telugu hit movie of the same name. Despite being a decent movie, Jersey failed big time and failed to cross Rs 20 Crore at the Indian box office.

Budget: Rs 110 Crore (including Shahid Kapoor’s pay)

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 19.6 Crore

Verdict: Disaster

Heropanti 2

The expectations were high from Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 as it was a sequel to his hit debut movie Heropanti. Opened to poor reviews, Heropanti was a total washout at the box office.

Budget: Rs 100 Crore (including star cast’s pay)

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 24.45 Crore

Verdict: Disaster

Jayeshbhai Jordaar

Ranveer Singh and Shalini Pandey starrer social comedy ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ failed to attract audiences to theatres. A 90-crore budget project collected only Rs 15.59 Crore in its lifetime at the Indian box office.

Budget: Rs 90 Crore (including star cast’s pay)

Verdict: Disaster

Dhaakad

The biggest disaster of the year and probably one of the biggest of all time is Kangana Ranaut’s action thriller Dhaakad. We don’t have much to say as this movie failed to cross even Rs 5 Crore mark in its lifetime.

Budget: Rs 85 Crore (including star cast’s pay)

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 2.65 Crore

Verdict: Disaster

Bollywood Box Office Verdict 2022

Samrat Prithviraj

Another YRF movie on the list. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar’s magnum opus Samrat Prithviraj has been completely rejected by the audience. There was notable negativity around the movie before its release. As a result, Samrat Prithviraj has emerged as one of the biggest box office disasters of 2022.

Budget: Rs 250 Crore (including star cast’s pay)

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 68 Crore

Verdict: Disaster

Shamshera

Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback movie Shamshera was expected to bring good days back for Bollywood. However, the critics and audience have rejected it completely.

Budget: Rs 150 Crore

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 43 Crore

Laal Singh Chaddha

Aamir Khan’s most-awaited movie Laal Singh Chaddha was the target of the Boycott gang much before its release. The movie failed to beat the negativity around it and as a result, opened on a dismal note at the box office. Despite being a decent watch, the Aamir Khan starrer is set to become of the biggest flops of his career.

Budget: Rs 180 Crore

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 60 Crore (expected)

Raksha Bandhan

Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan also failed to make much impact at the box office. It is Akshay Kumar’s highest consecutive disaster of 2022.

Budget: Rs 120 Crore (including Akshay Kumar’s pay)

Lifetime collection in India: Rs 60 Crore (expected)

Apart from these biggest disasters, other notable flop Bollywood movies of 2022 are Gangubai Kathiawadi, Attack, Runway 34, Badhaai Do, Ek Villain Returns, Shabash Mithu, Jhund, and Khuda Haafiz 2.

The Hindi dubbed versions of South Indian movies like Radhe Shyam, Vikram, Valimai, Beast, and Major have also failed at the box office.
