Bollywood 200 Crore Club: In this Box Office report, we will look at the Bollywood and Hindi dubbed movies that crossed Rs 200 crore in India.
With Bollywood films making huge money and new records being created every day, it seems that Bollywood’s 100 crore club is a thing of the past now. There was a time when 100 crore was a dream figure for any Bollywood movie. But, with huge budgets, impeccable star power, higher ticket prices, and wider releases, Bollywood is now looking for even more. These days we are looking for movies to enter Bollywood 200 crore club, 300 crore club or even 400 crore club.
Till Jan 29, 2023, 31 movies have made it to the Bollywood 200 crore club. The history of Bollywood’s 200 crore movies goes back to 2009 when Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots became the first Bollywood movie to achieve this feat. It took 70 days to achieve this incredible milestone at the Indian box office.
Though 2012 saw two big blockbusters in Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani and Ek Tha Tiger none of them managed to touch the Rs 200 Crore mark. Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani collected 189 crores while Ek Tha Tiger missed marginally and ended up with lifetime earnings of Rs 198 Crore.
Three movies entered Bollywood’s 200 Core club in 2013
2013 comes as a money-minting year for Bollywood with three big movies making it to the 200 crore club. Chennai Express capitalized on a big opening and ended its box office journey with collections of Rs 227 Crore breaking the record held by 3 Idiots for almost four years. But, who would have thought the Chennai Express record would be in danger very soon?
Krrish 3 which was released on Diwali 2013 raked Rs 240.5 crore, thus becoming the third movie to cross Rs 200 Crore at Indian Box Office. But, the year has to end with Dhoom. Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 released on Christmas 2013 shattered all box office records at that time. Dhoom 3 became the fastest entry to Bollywood’s 200 Crore club. It took only nine days to achieve this feat.
Salman, Shahrukh and Aamir delivered Rs 200 Crore Grosser in 2014
2014 saw three Khans of Bollywood make their way to Bollywood’s Rs 200 Crore club once again. Salman Khan’s Kick released on Eid 2014, became the first 200 crores grosser of the year. SRK’s Diwali release Happy New Year became the second one while PK became Aamir’s third entry to the 200 crore club after 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3.
Salman Khan ruled the box office in 2015
The year 2015 saw two 200 Crore grosser with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Bajrangi Bhaijaan was the top grosser of the year with earnings of around Rs 320 Crore while Prem Ratan Dhan Payo managed to earn 209 crores.
In 2016, only two movies made it to the 200 crore club of Bollywood. Salman Khan’s Sultan reached the milestone in just 7 days, thus becoming the fastest Rs 200 crore movie at that time. Aamir Khan’s Dangal was the second movie of 2016 to cross Rs 200 Crore. Dangal went on to become the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of all time with a lifetime collection of Rs 387 Crore.
2017: Another big year for Bollywood
In 2017, three movies crossed the 200 Crore mark. The Hindi dubbed of Baahubali 2 created havoc at the box office and earned Rs 500+ Crore. Ajay Devgn’s Diwali release Golmaal Again crossed 200 crores on the 24th day of its release. The last big release of the year, Tiger Zinda Hai took just seven days to enter the elite 200 crore club.
2018: Ranveer Singh’s year
In 2018, three movies manage to cross the Rs 200 crore mark. Two out of these three, Padmaavat and Sanju entered the 300 crore club. Ranveer Singh’s Simmba also made it to the Rs 200 Crore club.
2019: Akshay Kumar ruled like a box office king
2019 saw as many as seven movies make entry to the 200 crore club. Akshay Kumar ruled the box office with three movies, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and Good Newwz.
2020: Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was the highest grosser
2020 turned out to be a bad year for Bollywood thanks to the pandemic. Cinema halls and multiplexes remained closed for the most part of the year. Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji was the only Rs 200 Crore movie of the year.
2022: Dominated by Hindi dubbed south movies
2022 saw two south movies making it big. KGF Chapter 2 and RRR crossed Rs 200 Crore mark. KGF Chapter 2 took just five days to make it to the elite club. The Kashmir Files emerged as one of the biggest surprise blockbusters as it earned Rs 250+ Crore.
2023: Shahrukh Khan starts the new year with a bang
Shahrukh Khan makes a comeback after four years with Pathaan. The movie is rewriting box office history as it has crossed Rs 200 Crore in India in just four days.

Talking about directors, Raj Kumar Hirani, Rohit Shetty, and Ali Abbas Zafar have three movies in Bollywood’s 200 crore club.
Deepika has four movies followed by Katrina and Kareena with three each. Alia and Anushka Sharma have two each.
Fastest to 200 Crore club
Pathaan (4 days) is the fastest 200 crores grosser followed by KGF Chapter 2 (5 days), Baahubali 2 (6 days), Sultan (7 days), Sanju (7 days), Tiger Zinda Hai (7 days) and WAR (7 days).
