AI Reimagines Tory Politicians in Regular Life

Tory politicians have come under immense scrutiny for a number of years, especially during Covid-19 and in the aftermath of the pandemic.

Through the forced departure of Boris Johnson, Liz Truss serving as the shortest-serving Prime Minister ever and the appointment of Rishi Sunak, it’s fair to say it’s been a hectic time for the Conservative Party.

Understandably, a lot of the British public has expressed their dismay towards the Tory politicians.

The ‘Partygate’ controversy, views on immigration and handling of the NHS have all contributed to rising tensions towards the party.

One new and creative way this disappointment has been displayed is through the use of AI.

In a collection titled “Tories Without the Privilege”, the images show key figures as front-line workers, refugees, and homeless people.

Using Midjourney, the creators W*nkersoftheWorld imagined some of the party members as a barmaid, a taxi driver, and a road cleaner.

So, we take a dive into these thought-provoking and slightly humorous images.

Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson served as Prime Minister from 2019 to 2022.

He was forced to leave after growing out of favour with the public and his own party members, some of whom resigned in the build-up to his dismissal.

As Prime Minister, he led the UK through Brexit and Covid-19.

However, when news broke out that Boris himself was breaking his own lockdown rules, hosting parties and socialising with other Tory politicians, the UK was furious.

Here, he is depicted as a cleaner of what appears to be a hospital.

The floor is messy and perhaps symbolises how Boris tried to clean up his own wreckage to no avail.

Liz Truss

AI Reimagines Tory Politicians in Regular Life

There was much jubilation when Liz Truss was appointed as the new Prime Minister after Boris Johnson.

She became only the third female Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.

However, she made history again by becoming the shortest-serving Prime Minister ever, standing in office for just seven weeks before resigning.

During her hectic tenure, fellow Conservatives and British people had no faith in her leadership.

There was also a lack of talent in her cabinet and Truss even fired her chancellor and home secretary – the two most senior positions in the government.

AI has imagined her working as a barmaid, staring directly at the “camera” as she pours an unfinished pint.

Rishi Sunak

Another history maker amongst Tory politicians is Rishi Sunak.

In 2022, he became Truss’ successor and ultimately achieved the milestone of becoming the UK’s first Prime Minister of South Asian descent.

However, his role within investment and hedge funds has come under immense scrutiny.

Sunak’s wealthy background, not to mention his millionaire wife, has also received criticism when comparing his policies surrounding NHS funding and the cost of living crisis.

Here, he is shown to be working for Deliveroo, a takeaway service that couriers can find difficult to make a living off of.

With a worried expression, he displays the stress that many British people face today during the rising prices.

Dominic Raab

Dominic Raab is a British politician and deputy Prime Minister under Sunak’s reign.

Raab is known for his Eurosceptic views and has been a prominent supporter of Brexit.

He played a key role in negotiating the UK’s exit from the EU, serving as the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union from July to November 2018.

However, through multiple sources, Raab was accused of bullying and creating a fearful atmosphere in his office.

Between 2020-2021, a survey was leaked to ITV News.

It explained people working under his eye claimed to have been bullied or harassed whilst other staff witnessed a person being treated unfairly.

Whilst the investigation goes on, AI depicts Raab working behind the counter at a chicken shop. Hilariously, he has a blank expression as if he is on the other end of some bullying.

Matt Hancock

Matt Hancock was a key figure in the UK government’s action against Covid-19 and was responsible for overseeing the NHS and the country’s vaccination programme.

However, he faced controversy during the pandemic, including allegations of improper conduct related to government contracts and accusations of breaking social distancing rules himself.

In June 2021, Hancock resigned from his position as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care following the publication of photos showing him violating social distancing guidelines by kissing a colleague.

In 2022, he appeared on the ITV reality show, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

Despite the resistance from his campmates and the British public, he ended up coming third in the series.

With a glum face, Hancock is seen working for ASDA pushing around trolleys.

Suella Braverman

Prior to entering politics, Braverman was a barrister specialising in public law and human rights.

Now serving as the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman has been under the public eye for all the wrong reasons.

Her harsh views on immigration have left many people worried about what will happen to the country and even their own families, in terms of deportation.

In previous speeches, she has explained her reservations about trade deals with India as it may increase immigration to the UK.

Sharing her feelings about deporting asylum seekers to Rwanda, she has also said:

“I would love to have a front page of the Telegraph with a plane taking off to Rwanda.

“That’s my dream, it’s my obsession.”

Cleverly, AI has created the politician as an ‘immigrant’. Similar to those in real life who flee war or terror, Braverman is seen as scared and worried.

Michael Gove

Michael Gove is the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

He has come under a series of controversial cases in the past, from sexual comments about Justice Minister Lucy Frazer to clumsy attempts at humour.

One example of this was in 2017 on BBC Today, where he compared an interview with John Humphrys to going into convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein’s bedroom:

“You just pray that you emerge with your dignity intact.”

Whilst many politicians and former party members have called for him to be fired, he remains in his role.

However, artists have still made fun of the figure by showing him in an Amazon warehouse.

Jacob Rees-Mogg

Jacob Rees-Mogg is a Member of Parliament, known for his crude and sometimes outlandish remarks on social issues.

Whilst he has served under many Prime Ministers, the politician cannot escape controversy and still faces resistance from many British people.

He has known to defend Boris Johnson when the former Prime Minister compared Muslim women wearing the burqa to “bank robbers” and “letterboxes”.

He has voted over 50 times to reduce the spending on benefits.

And, he has repealed the human rights act twice.

With such a track record of questionable acts, there’s no wonder that W*nkersoftheWorld decided to see what AI would make of the politician.

Lee Anderson

Lee Anderson is another Member of Parliament.

Perhaps one of the most famous and confusing situations that Anderson has been involved in was his decision to switch from the Labour Party to the Conservative Party.

Facing criticism from some Labour supporters for his political views, he decided Tory politicians fitted in line with his opinions.

Additionally, as a Conservative MP, he has been subject to criticism from some quarters for his support of government policies on issues such as Brexit and austerity measures.

Whilst he is known for his working-class background, he has been critiqued for joining a party that doesn’t adequately support similar people from his roots.

Here, he is pictured as a homeless person – a community that is unbearable suffering during the cost of living crisis, as are many others.

Kwasi Kwarteng

Kwasi Kwarteng is a British politician and former Chancellor of the Exchequer under Liz Truss.

Kwarteng was dismissed from this role after 38 days and was vocal about his reluctance to Truss’ economic plans.

He admits that he told the former Prime Minister she was rushing her policies and maintains that she and her team lost their vision due to getting carried away.

Kwarteng was also under fire for his lack of leadership during this time and during some public appearances, he backtracked and contradicted himself on Truss’ plans.

He’s also faced issues surrounding race during the Black Lives Matter movement.

For example, Kwarteng critiqued some supporters of the movement, as well as calling the removal of British slave trader Edward Colston’s statue “acts of vandalism”.

In this image, we see Kwarteng as a taxi driver with a very unhappy passenger.

When posting all these AI images, the group added the caption:

“Tories without the privilege. Being born in the right place at the right time has nothing to do with hard work.

“All created by W*nkers of the World using AI.”

These interestingly paint Tory politicians in a different light and cleverly reimagine them without financial backing or entitlements.
