Adam Azim Wins with Spectacular 1st Round KO

“He’s never been stopped before. This is a statement”

It was a quick night for Adam Azim as he spectacularly dispatched his opponent in the first round.

The prospect knocked out Argentina’s Michel Cabral in less than two minutes at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.

Prior to Azim’s fight, fans had been slightly disappointed after it was revealed that fellow British South Asian prospect Tal Singh had his fight cancelled.

Singh had been scheduled to make his professional debut but his fight was called off just hours before.

Adam Azim lifted the fan’s spirits as he made his way to the ring to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Some of the crowd began to belt out the famous anthem but it ended up being a short night as Azim made quick work of Cabral.

Azim bossed the opening moments of the fight.

Azim found the breakthrough midway through the opening round as he landed a body shot that backed Cabral up.

The 20-year-old from Slough followed up with a pair of right hooks that sent Cabral to the canvas.

It quickly became clear that he was not going to make the 10-count.

Even before the referee waved off the fight, Azim confidently gave a fist bump as he knew he won.

As soon as the fight ended, Azim performed a backflip in the ring, something which has become his signature celebration.

The win was his third successive first-round knockout and it takes his record to 6-0.

Following his win, Adam Azim thanked his team. He also declared that he is a Liverpool fan, prompting cheers from the crowd.

When asked about the fast knockouts, Azim said that he tries to ease into the fights but believes his opponents have not been able to take his power.

Speaking about Cabral, he said:

“Its another person to throw at me. He’s never been stopped before. This is a statement in itself but you know obviously, I had a hard camp but it didn’t even take that long.

“I tried to go more rounds but you know what, I’m ready for whoever they put in front of me.”

Promoter Ben Shalom was then questioned about the quality of Azim’s opponent.

He said: “It’s difficult because he’s 20 years old, what do you want me to do?

“This was a last-minute opponent. As you said, he’s someone who hadn’t been stopped before.

“He’ll [Azim] will be back out again and it was a dream for him to fight in Liverpool tonight. He had another knockout and we move on and he’ll be back out in November.”
